Protagonists
The leading character or one of the major characters in a drama, movie, novel, or other fictional text. / A protagonist is the main character of a story. The protagonist is at the center of the story, makes the key decisions, and experiences the consequences of those decisions. The protagonist is the primary agent propelling the story forward, and is often the character who faces the most significant obstacles.

Deuteragonists
The person(s) second in importance to the protagonist in a drama. In literature, the deuteragonist or secondary main character is the second most important character, after the protagonist and before the tritagonist. The deuteragonist may switch between supporting and opposing the protagonist, depending on the deuteragonist's own conflict or plot.
